专家简介
季理真教授在美国麻省理工学院、普林斯顿高等研究院从事研究工作后， 现任教于美国密歇根大学数学系。
季理真教授的研究领域主要是几何、拓扑及数论这些主流数学的交叉学科，曾获得Sloan研究奖，以及美国自然科学基金会数学科学博士后奖和晨兴银质奖。季教授撰写过多四本学术专著，编过近二十本数学研究论文书集, 是Pure and Applied Mathematics Quarterly 国际期刊，二套高水平英文学术著作及二套中文数学高级科普系列丛书的主编之一, 和其他三个 国际数学期刊 (中国科学， Asian Journal of Mathematics, ICCM Notices) 的编辑。

Which group is the most beautiful？
Groups have played a central and unifying role in modern mathematics and sciences.
One reason is that they are the mathematics behind symmetries, and of course,symmetries are ubiquitous.
If we remove groups from mathematics, it is not clear how much of mathematics is left.
There are different kinds of groups and each is useful and beautiful for its purpose:
finite groups, infinite groups, discrete groups and continuous groups (Lie groups).
Which group is the most beautiful?
In this lecture, Prof.Ji will describe one special group and its role in analysis, geometry, topologyand, of course, in algebra.

群在现代数学和科学发挥了中心和凝聚作用。
原因之一是，它是对称背后的数学。
